Are event 20/20's really a good a idea to be using to mix, if I am sitting only a couple feet from them? They say they are "direct-field" whatever that means? Hows that different than near-field?
Or, if I go with M-audio BX8s used, should I worry about quality issues? The reviews kinda scare me.
I'm lookin at both of these, used... in the same ballpark price wise.

Audition some if you can

I was tempted to buy some new Event 20/20s but ended up buying some secondhand KRK V4 IIs. I also sit 2 feet from them and I'm blown away by the sound quality. I guess the best thing is to try to audition some, but easier said than done, depending on your local dealers, etc. I took a chance and bought the KRKs without hearing them and I'm not disappointed...but maybe ignorance is bliss? lol
