Alright so i finally got some ASP8s and when my parents bought them the guy threw in some free stuff of course. And he gave them 2 instrument cables XRL to 1/4". Are these the best way to connect monitors or should i just stick with the 1/4" to 1/4" speakerwire i bought a couple months ago??

if you can't hear a difference your alright either way.

ime, the xlr fit more securely and snug on my monitor jacks, so I used the XLR(monitor). I didn't have a choice on the EMU 1820 interface box, so it was 1/4".

damn..ASP8's those are some really impressive monitors. congrats!

I'm assuming these are powered monitors? I wouldn't use speaker cable to connect those (assuming you do mean 2-conductor cable with no shield)...speaker cable is for connecting an amplifier to a speaker. Since powered monitors have the amps built in, you're looking at a (probably) balanced connection. If that's the case, definitely go with the cables that were given to you.
