Hi,

I'm pretty new to this whole recording thing. I went out and got myself a simple 4 track recorder, and after a few months figured I would step it up to the DP-01fx. This system has pretty much all I need and I am very happy with it.

Up till now, I have been mixing on a set of senheiser headphones, and I have finally got fed up with them and got the money together to get some studio monitors.

I listened to a bunch of monitors in the store, and finally settled on the Tannoy Reveals (the red ones). Now I need a power amp to power the speakers, but I know nothing about them. Can somebody give me a few examples of power amps that would work well with those monitors, along with a simple explanation of how I should match up the ohms. The monitors say that they work at 6ohms. Do I have to match up the power amp to this?

Thanks for any help or replys.

Hafler amps seem to get high recommendations around here and are medium in the price range. 6 ohms seems a bit strange, but you should be ok with a power amp rated at 4 ohms. Basically you just don't want to drive your amp at into a lower rating of connected speakers. Someone more familiar with those monitors can probably recommend a size (watt output).
