Moniter Speakers

I'm looking for a set of monitor speakers that I can hook into the outputs of my Lexicon Alpha (Can't remember what size jack it uses). Right now I have an Aiwa 120 watt shelf system with 3-way speakers. Would that suffice or do I need to invest in some monitor speakers?

There's no harm in trying out the Aiwa speakers. They may be fine. Does other recorded material sound okay on them? Does the stuff you've recorded sounded comparatively ok?

Work out how much you can spend and then go and look at M-Audio, Mackie, Yamaha...etc...and just pick anything in that price range. The 5 inch speaks don't reproduce too much below about 55hz...and they are all pretty much the same

What about Samson MediaOne 3a Active Studio Monitors (http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--SAMSAM3A) ? I'm looking for something under $100
