Money no object-amp

You can have any amp but only one; which would you choose? You could have no stomp boxes, just your guitar (see other thread) direct to amp. Which one would you choose.

(lets keep it one per person, no I'd have this or that). So it's really a which in your opinion best, most diverse amp.

I'm still thinking about mine.

Fender Cybertwin...
I just picked it up Friday, I will be giving a full-on review in the next couple of weeks after I get to do some recording. My initial thoughts are that this is the only amp that lives up to the hype that surrounded it.

A tough one, but probably the 1959 Bassman. Model 5F6A. I think.

Another Cyber-Twin vote! Truely amazing amp, I use to go through stomp boxes and multieffects processors but not any more. The C-T has all the effects you could need already built in. I didnt really notice how much those stomp boxes killed my tone until I plugged straight into the C-T. This amp is versatile too. You can get classic Fender clean tone's, over driven tones, newer Fender tones like the Hot Rod's and the Prosonic, its got Vox and Marshall tones. It's great! You want to record with it, just plug in two XLR cables in the back and run them to your mixer, thats it.
 
Well... How 'bout the 1968 Orange or the 197-something HiWatt he puts next to it?

Awfull sound. WAY to loud. But really awfull. When you hear these, you know why some people prefer tubes...
 
Mesa Boogie MKIIC+ or Mesa Boogie MKIV

either amp sounds amazing with just a guitar/amp and there are infinite tonal possibilities by using the eq or class A / simulclass options.

by the way, in my humble opinion, I dont like the digital amps. I think they are closer then ever to re-creating a tube sound but they are definitely not their yet. Also I hate direct recording!! Just my 2 cents worth!!

Just so you know...I too hate digital amps.

Johnson=suck Line6=suck Peavey=suck.

Until I played and bought the Cybertwin. It is a good amp. It is the only solidstate amp I own, much less the only digital one. Some of my other amps are a Vox AC-30, Fender Blues DeVille, Fender Pro. Jr, Trace Elliot Super Tramp, Ampeg V....something(I forget the model, but it has like 15 tubes in it) , oh i forgot my '59 Bassman reissue. But that list doesnt include a Boogie because they always have been a little 1 dimensional to me.

I have been hearing great things about the cybertwin. I'll have to get my lazy butt down to the music store and check one out. ;-)

My boogie amps do have a distinct sound to them but you can get alot of different tones out of them (when you tweak them of course!) . I love them and they work great for me!

I have a few different amps myself! I have two Modded Marshalls and 2 stock marshalls ( I dont really use them anymore though!) I also have a Fender Super Champ amp designed by Paul Rivera (as you probably can tell, I go for the Hot Rodded guitar tones!! But I like musical distortion not the thrashy kind!!

Yeah, I dont use a very heavy tone. A Mashall is about the only type of amp i have never owned. You will probably have a different take from the shredder's POV ;)

My buddy Connan Cantwell is a mad amp genius with a nice shop in his garage.I supplied the money and built the cabinet (swamp ash).He stripped a 60s vintage twin down to the bare metal and ceramic tube sockets.More than a year later and about $600 poorer it was done.
Channel one is '58 Bassman and channel two is 69 Plexi (with (6) 12AX7s and (4) EL34s),footswitchable with tube-buffered effects loop.The cab is a twin clone with a single EV12L.
I've been gigging with this amp for about 5 years now and it is real versatile (I put a j-station in the front end for effects and such lately.

I had a Cyber-twin on order, but was put off for a month and was really jonesin' so i went back and opted for an all tube 100 watt Marshall head and 4x12 cabinet. I love it!
It's the new TSL 100. three channel, 1 clean, 1 lead, 1 crunch.
I have a box full of foot pedals (Wah, Dist., chorus etc.)and a digitech guitar processor, but have just been absorbed by the overdrive in this amp. Maybe next summer I'll hook up some effects.
A friend swears by Mesa Boogie. Call me old fashioned, but I really miss those old Twin Reverbs.
Maybe I'll regret not waiting for the Cyber, but I really dig tubes.

Too many decisions.
 
you'll never regret that! that amp is great. although a bit of a two (maybe three arguable...) trick pony though. great clean, great lead... nothing else.
so i'm buying a mesa quad preamp and a nice poweramp (tubes...ofcourse) the quad let's me mix two channels! so i can mix searing lead and beautifull clean... man i love to tweak!

i already have the DSL 100watt ;)

I agree on the two trick pony statement. I spend most time between the clean and lead channels. The crunch is pretty mild, but as my ear gets tuned in to this I may appreciate some of the finer nuances of that third channel.
One thing I've noticed in this new millenium is that there is so much equipment available that a person easily gets sensory overload. I'm straying from the topic. I apologize for abusing this thread.
I began this life with a Peavy Duece. I feel I've been reborn! Thanks for the reply.

yeah, but ones you figure out the beast, it really shines! one hint; don't scoop the mids. if you have done so dial 'm back in, cuz this amp is really at it's best with mids (ofcourse to taste but don't scoop) in the lead channel. and man i never ever thought i would like the clean on a high gain amp but this is really really loveable!

My '59 Bassman......I didn't use it as much when I first got it in '85,but one day after reading all the hype and
folklore surrounding this babe,I plugged in and turned it up to 6.Wow.The tone is hard to explain;very complex and punchy.I see now why Jim Marshall used this amp as his model for the amp empire he created.I was pretty
familiar with old tweeds,as I was using a '56 Pro at the time I scored the Bassman.Although the Pro has some great sounds,there is no comparison.
 
It hasta go to twelve. No seriously, I believe to much emphasis is put on technology and not enough on feeling and no amp is gonna help ya in that department.
 
Yeah your right DragonWorks! But a good sounding amp will make you play better because you will be inspired more! also I find that you have to learn how to play different amps. Just to give you an example, I cant play certain licks on a Marshall that I can on a Boogie!
