I use a Boss GT-8 along with a Roland GR33 synth at my church and it works great. Personally, I think my sound is the best it has been since I have started playiing...which was back in the 60's and I have used basically most popular amps at one time or another.

My rig is a Roland Strat into the GR33 which feeds a guitar signal to the GT8. Then I take stereo outputs from each floor unit and run them into a small line mixer which feeds a power amp and then into two full range PA cabinets in a floor monitor shape. I also send a stereo signal to the board for a FOH sound, as the "mini PA" is basically so I am SURE I can hear myself (remember...church staff running sound!).

I also run an aux out of the mixer to a Digitech JamMan looper, and then that back into the mixer. Complete flexibility of what goes into the looper.

Advantages... The stereo sound on stage is INCREDIBLE, although I realize most in the audience don't hear it. But it gives me incredible sound that pumps my playing up several levels for sure. Plus, I can send whatever mix I want for the FOH... I have control FIRST.

2ndly... It sounds great and I can play at ANY volume. Very important for me, as I don't need to wail during an alter call when I might play solo, but I want a great sound however. I get the same sound at any volume.

3rd... Did I mention, it sounds great?? (remember, I am coming from 30+ yrs of tube amp usage). The ease of changing sounds is great... from a overly reverbed clean to a crank to a chorus sound, to a delay freak out... all very easy. My amps were one trick ponies, basically. But the DO sound great and I still have room full of them.... which are just reminders of what I used to use...basically.

I'll never go back to an amp, unless out of necessity... just like computer recording. I"ll never look back.
