Mobile pre does not record on my iMac os x

Model: imac 2011
OS: 10.7.2
CPU: 2.5 GHz
Memory: 2GB (2 X 1GB)
M-Audio Products: mobilePre, Microphone =(NT1-A, XLR), (Shure /XLR)


I installed protools se, and then installed pro tools 9 and all the updates I could find. I can hear sound when I add an instrumental but when I press the red button in order to record then play its just silent . Started with the (NT1-A compressor/XLR) Then used another microphone to check if it was damaged (Shure /XLR) and I got the same result PLEASE help everything is new by the way.
 
Again ..... Is the compressor in line stopping the phantom power from reaching the NT1-A?
 
Lol. Great stuff.

Even with a dynamic mic you (usually?) don't put the compressor before the preamp.

Compressors are (again, usually?) designed to take line level inputs.
