As much of a Ben Stiller fan that I am, I have not seen that flick yet. So the refernce sailed right over my head. Sorry 'bout that :o .

Glad to see that you guys are getting your licks in though :).

3ft= 200ms or 500ms delay

U get Bleeding and time delay arrivals from different mic distances and how far away they are u know

i just thought about using mic polarity adapters to change the phase/polarity of the mics this might help out some also but we are mixing down to MONO signal channel

I was thinking also about that linear phase filter it might ALIGN the time delays from all the mics in the room up its about ALIGNING because they are all NUGDED alittle in microseconds or milliseconds creating a slap back delays or offset delays so maybe running the whole band to a multiband linear phase filter will ALIGN it up more for MONO?

That all really depends on if you want it to sound milky or creamy...?

Hmmm... dunno, Mr. W, you'll have to draw me a diagram.

What'd you think of the 3:1 page?

Tim

the 3:1 page yea i liked it thats the same rule for recording horns but its 5:1 5 feet

The edge guitarist uses that to the 5:1 for his AC30 amps to get a time delay also bleeding effect

to draw me a diagram

ok the set up is in a reshearal room

2 stereo MATCH mics for the room mics
2 stereo MATCH mics for the overheads of the drums
One shure 57 or 58 about 2 or 3 feet from the guitar amp
One shure 57 or 58 about 2 or 3 feet from the bass amp i don't like really close micing i like depth and room sound
NO VOCALS for this set up to get u confussed

Drum mics are different goes to a mixer:

One shure 58 for the tom toms
One shure 58 for the floor toms
One shure 58 for the cymbals
One Bass drum mic for the bass drum

This is a special set up i mix these drum mixes and then add them in
mostly the bass drum mic louder just alittle IF the overhead NEED some
EXTRA dbs or louder u know its not there in your face like most people
do

What's an edge guitarist? Must be someone who plays sitting on the edge of the stage. Maybe that's why you're having the time delay issues.
