Mixing Stacked Vocals/Whisper

Whenever I stack/overdub my vocals, it ends up sounding like a Chorus effect, no matter how on point the overdub is to the original. Is there a particular way I can mix the overdub(s) to sound legit along with the original? Maybe lower the volume, compress them, etc. And another question, how do I mix a whisper track (for a rap song)?
 
Post something in the MP3 Clinic so people can hear what the problem is, or if there is one, and offer more targeted advice.

By the way, a chorus effect is supposed to make one voice sound like several doing the same thing, so it's not much of a surprise that several voices doing the same thing sounds like a chorus effect.
 
I'm sorry for not explaining in more detail, but an example I can give you is that Eminem stacks his vocals for his verses, and it doesn't sound like a Chorus effect.
 
Usually, if you just want to thicken up the vocals but don't want it to sound chorus-y, turn down one of the tracks (if we're talking about 2 tracks) to ABOUT half the volume of the main. If we're talking multiple tracks, then I'd still keep one as the main and turn down the others to taste.
 
If you don't want it to sound like a chorus effect - either add different notes [so they're not the same as the first track] or use a different performer. The nature of "double tracking" [using the same performer who performs the same performance a second time] will be that "chorus" effect due to the the time and pitch differences coupled with the timbre and character of the same performer. If you aren't doubling the performance then you won't get a chorus.

In terms of doing a "whisper" track - the reason to do that is for a greater character of "air" to the performance. Whispering moves a lot of air without a lot of body to the sound [I will often filter everything below 1-2kHz out of a whisper track] - this can be a way to get a very large sense of size to the vocal performance [see Mutt Lange's work with Def Lepard for details] without that size becoming a bear to fit into a mix.

i need help mixing down my songs like after i rap over the beat on a program what or how do i mix down my voice to how the beat is mixed down? please help me recomend me a good program?
