Mixing Software with Alesis

I have an alesis HD24 and the firewire and im looking into software to use with it. I was curious as to whether or not I would be able to use pro tools with it?
im going to school for pro tools in august and i wanted to get a head start.
 
you can transfer the files from the hd24 to your computer to import into protools, yes...


however, you cannot insert the hd24 into protools. ;)
 
well yes i knew that haha. I was just curious because i have been searching for a software package of just pro tools, and all i can find are combinations of pro tools and m-audio or digi box's. Any idea of where i can get just the software?

in order to use protools software, you MUST use their hardware. there is no way around it. what i do is, record the the hd24, transfer files to computer via fireport, then import them in to the software.
