I've recently purchased mixing software and am in the process of learning it. Until my studio is complete, I'd love to be able to continue experimenting and learning this software.

Since I don't have any music recorded yet, I'm unable to do a whole lot as far as mixing goes.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find an entire song in separate .WAV files for each track, so I can import them into the software and "practice" mixing?

Thanks!

Let´s see....

Hi
since wav files download might be dense and sloooow, try doing this.
If you have Cakewalk or any MIDI software, try recording each midi track in separates wav files. Then you´ll have the same song but in .wavs. Apply FX´s, processors, EQ´s and everything will change, and you´ll be practicing mixing.
Now if you do not have MIDI software, download a demo or trial (they should come with demos and templates or examples, or the link for downloading it. Since you´ll use it a little for converting MIDI into wav, a demo will do fine.

Come back if you need anything else.

Good idea, but I was hoping to work with recorded drums, vox, bass, guitars, etc., instead of MIDI files. I've got a cable modem, so downloading big WAVs is not a problem.

With the vastness of the internet, I would have thought that I could find one song broken up into dry tracks I could play with. Unfortunately not.. There are 218 websites devoted to "Animal Marriages", but I can't find one song to practice with!

Do you have any songs broken up into separate tracks you'd be willing to share?

Yes...

Of course I can share it with you... after all that´s what this site is all about...sharing...
But don´t you expect great recorded sounds, since we are newbies. Let me find out how I can send it to you...
I´ll send you a couple of songs we´ve recorded lately, so you´ll have different styles to mix. Ok?

That would be great! Thanks! Just to make sure, we are talking about multiple WAVs that make up one single song, correct? I posted this same thread on another forum, and got a number of people saying they'd send a single WAV containing one song. Was glad people were interested in helping, but one WAV containing 10 tracks doesn't do much good..

Thanks again! My email address is elesser@ga.prestige.net

That´s the idea...

What would be the use of sending you an already mixed wav?
Those guys didn´t get it.

The files I will send you are kinda this:
.wavs for each song: BD, SD, Tom 1, Tom2, Tom3, Hi Hat, ride, Cymbals, Rythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass, Vocal, Backing Vocals, guitar fills (details and FX´s), Keyboards, and so on...
An individual wav for each instrument...
What software are you talking about? Is it Vegas? Let me know so I can send you the file to open the wavs without having to "put the tracks in tempo"
By the way, do you prefer any musical style? So I´ll choose the one you´d probably like the most...

Thanks!

Wow, PC.. Thanks again.

I'm into rock, jazz, folk, etc.. "Good" music, if that makes any sense.

I'm using n-Track. Sounds like you are using Vegas, so I'll have to work to get the tracks in sync together. Not a problem. Perhaps they would be smaller to send if they were in a ZIP file? Not sure.. Your choice on how to send.

No problem...

Hey! I got n-Track too, so there ´ll be no problem!
I´ll send you the wavs, the ntrack file and a little readme with any quotes you´ll probably need all in a zip file for each song...

workin´on that today...

Just have a little patience
.....yeeeaaahhh...just a little patience....
yeeeeaaahh... (Guns n´Roses)

I think this week you´ll have it available. Ok?

Sounds great. I do appreciate it. Should have my studio set up in the next few weeks (waiting on cash from a movie/music deal), and this will give me a "jump" on mixing with n-Track.

Thanks!

PC:

Wanted to let you know I was still very interested in those WAV tracks. Just found out today that the soundcard I ordered is backordered and won't be around for weeks. Would love to work with my mixing software in the meantime.

Thanks again!

I´m workin´ on it...

Hi DarkFriend!
Don´t panic. I´m working on it for you, it´s not easy for me because in this country you have to work nine hours a day to survive, and then go to complete your studies if you wanna be someone... so I have a very tight schedule... but don´t worry, it should be ready for Monday I guess or sometime next week.
Believe me, I will give it to you. It´s just a lack of spare time...
(God! I wish I could make a living out of music...!)

By the way... Is your nickname due to your musical preferences?
If so, I guess you´ll like the stuff I´ll give you...
