Mixing percussion?

In my experience, these things have a way of cutting through the mix regardless, so I always keep them well back in the mix if they have an independent channel. In fact I stopped using an independent channel on them in live applications and I place the percussion station next to the drums and just rely on the overheads to pick them up.

Has anyone got any tips for mixing percussion in particular tambourine, egg shaker and cowbell?

Thanks
Hmmmm....Pretty open ended question there. Play with the volumes, panning and EQ until they sound good in the mix? Don't know what else to tell you.
