and The Brain...
It was a challenge to produce a techno song using a guitar as the primary instrument without it sounding too industrial (NIN, ministry, marilyn manson, etc). I'm not entirely sure all of this works, but it was what happened when noodling yesterday. At times sounds like Rammstein (yuck), at others King Crimson...

I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of techno (occassionally I'll listen to some trance, blip hop, or DJ Tiesto). It's the energy in the music that draws me to it, so I tried to capture that energy and added some melody and musicianship. Very few techno artists I've heard have a good grasp of making music that sounds pleasing and keeps a picky listener like me interested. I'd definitely be looking for some artist suggestions. My chemical brothers and moby discs are worn out... :p

There's a link to the main website in my signature, song is called "This is Funnn".

Sounds good. It is very soft, could stand to be a bit louder. The musical ideas are very good. I wouldnt think of this as techno at all. More progressive. That said, one idea would be to redo the drums and make them heavier. To me, this is more King Krimson, I dont know who Rammstien is. A more "rock" drum sound might make this a lil cooler.

I see, it's a constant crescendo. I am finding it harder and harder to deal with dynamics in my own recordings. What would be ideal is to have the crescendo happen without the beginning being so soft. I think you do it with creative orchestration, wider panning as you go, layering etc. Giving the impression that it is getting louder might be more effective then actually getting louder, at least for me.

Well done, something interesting and unusual for a nice change.

Thanks David, all points well received and will be addressed in my final remix. :)

Anyone else?

I like it. It sounds pretty well done. I agree with what David said about some more rock type drums...might be an interesting thing.

I like it though...has a nice groove to it.
