Hi

I recently started mixing and wanted to ask for some help?.....how do enhance a beat in PT during mixing? I bought the beat of the internet but it did not come with the kicks, snares etc for the beat? i.e. the wav files for the beat.

P.S. A step by step help of the process would be beneficial.

Thanks a lot

So basically you have a stereo file of the beat that has been pre-mixed and possibly pre-mastered? There's not much you can do with it. It's virtually impossible to separate the different tracks at this point, however you can "enhance" the beat by EQing it and possibly compressing it (if you choose to compress it, don't squish it too hard). You can also automate some other effects to mix it up a bit and maybe throw in some reverb at places. It's all up to you. Another way you could flip the beat would be to sample different parts of it and create a new beat that sounds completely (or even a little bit) different.

Generally the beats you buy online should be pretty much ready to track vocals to and you shouldn't have to do much to it to make it sound good.

My only idea, would be to find a spot in the song that may possibly have just the snare or kick, cut and paste to a new track. But other than that, guitarplayr82's right, you can't seperate it out and it should be 'enhanced' pre flop.

Umm no...
1. You need to get in touch with the people you brought the music from and get it tracked out now...
2. If you leased it then your best bet is to focus on the vocals and then after the vocals sound like you want them to make eq adjustments to fit in with the beat
3. Then side chain compress the beat to the vocal track to keep your vocals forward in the mix of the music
4. If you don't know how to sidechain then go here YouTube - Side-Chaining Kick and Bass - HomeStudioCorner.com (its with drums and kicks but the same concept)
