mixing in cool-edit pro 2.0

how can i hear vocal adjustments, as i'm making them (in real time); while also hearing the instrumental? As opposed to doing it by itself while only being able to hear the vocal........clicking back to see if it fits......clicking back to adjust, etc........

it would be much easier to hear my adjustments with the beat, at the same time i'm making it. TIA!~

Cool Edit Pro is no longer a supported software, since the company is now defunct.

It was bought up by Adobe like 5 years ago, if you have a legal copy you can get a free upgrade to Adobe Audition.
