Mixing Hip Hop Vocals to beat

The backing track sounds like a sonic maximizer had the 'high' turned up really really far. It's fatiguing to the ears. The drums keep anything vocal wise from dominating because they simply take up so much space with their high end, when arguably it should be in reverse.
