Hi,

I have been a viewer of this forum for quite a while now and it looks like the people here always know what they are doing and talking about so I was wondering if I could have some help?

Me and my band have just recently finished recording and album and are now in the mixing stage of it. The album was recorded all by ourselves DIY style with no outside help. This goes the same for the mixing.
However, with the mixing we are trying our best but struggling to get it to sound great. We feel it isn't the standard we want (we are aware that you can only get it so good without studios, professionals etc).

The reason I am posting is to ask for feedback on the current mixes from anyone with experience in mixing. Any feedback is welcome. Be as brutally honest as you like as we want to try and get it the best we can possible get.

Linked below are 3 tracks that I would love feedback:

We are a 3 piece Punk Rock/Ska Punk band so if you have experience in that area then even better, however anyone is welcome!

I am open to any questions.

Thank you so much for any help.
I really do appreciate it!

No experience in this genre of music....but I will give you my thoughts. First, you do have a lot of "space" and nothing really sounds to be mudding up frequencies too bad which is good. However, Bass is hard to hear in a lot of parts. I can hear the bass solos really well, but when the whole band is in, it seems to disappear. Actually, all the songs lack low end but that may just be personal taste within the genre.

The guitars are sometimes shrill and tinny. Maybe dial in a little more mid-range and cut the frequencies that the bass sits in so it can shine a little more.

The vocals sound pretty good and I can understand what is being sung which is good.

You have some good stuff here just need a few adjustments. I am definitely not an expert on this style but there are a few members here that strive on this and hopefully they will chime in too.

Man I love your singing! Soooo fkn much attitude. Obviously, I like that "realness."
Songs are right up there with your voice. Liked em all.

Kinda hard to crit the mix because on one hand, everything is clear and separated,
but on the other, I get the feeling of a lack of lows. Like it sounds good, but slightly thin.

Yeah, I get the high/thin feel on this, too. The snare is very thin. On the low end, the kick is right there, but the bass is mostly hidden. The cymbals/hi-hat are thin and low in volume.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it.
It really did help a lot and now I know what bits to change etc.

Thanks again!

I love the energy on this one. Love the raw feel.

I'd agree with the thinness. Just not enough low end on the guitars. The bass could probably come up a bit. The little guitar riff could probably come up too - at least in certain spots.

The vocal sounds like it's in a different space from the instruments.

I think with better rhythm guitar recording and some minor tweaks, this could be a really cool mix.
