I took into consideration what you said about sag and think I've made a solution. I ran (2) 1x12 pine panels (vertical of course) between the legs and bolted to the leg frames at either side, crossbraced at two points along the way. That way the span of the board is supported by a joist system.

I can visualize what you are saying. Yup, that'll do it.

I know this thread is old, but what about creating a console stand like the one Mackie gave info for in this accessories pdf?

Its actually very simple and I believe it uses the mixer as the platform. There's no need dor a deck to put the board on and all you do is fit other furniture around the unit to hold your other equipment. It makes for easy access to the back for accessing cables inputs returns ect...

It IS an old post, but as its author, I'll answer. Because the Mackie stand doesn't allow for some of the creature comforts of having outboard gear that I use a lot that close to mix position, doesn't provide a rest for my monitors (mine are not embedded into my walls), or provide valuable space for other things I like to have right at hand. I felt I needed a little more functionality for my tastes (and everyone's are different) and so built this exactly to what I wanted for not a lot of money...labor was the biggest expenditure.
