Mixing chain..?

I have a potentially stupid question about mixing; I'm an amateur (enthusiast though..), and will be mixing my band's album once we're done recording it in about a month. Right now I don't own a pair of studio monitors, but am planning on picking up some M-audio Bx5a's or something comparable. I'll be mixing from the cubase files on my pc, running the audio through a Presonus audiobox usb into the monitors through 1/4inch outs. But my question is, is this a good or worthwhile signal chain for achieving a decently accurate sound to work with? Would incorporating something like a stereo graphic eq unit in the chain be beneficial, or pointless? Thanks for your patience in advance

You have the ability to EQ in your cubase software so the external EQ isn't necessary. You want to work on treating the room you will be mixing in and educating yourself on how. You might look for some help because a month just won't cut it for learning how. It's like the more you learn the more you'll learn you don't know.

Thanks for the advice. This wouldn't be my first time trying my hand at mixing, but it would be my first time actually trying to do it seriously and expecting good results.

well i use compressor for piks than compressor,eq,multiband limiter
