Part 1 - Before

This is a recording I made at the weekend ... met the band on the Saturday morning, then a friend recorded the drums (so I won't take the blame for how abjectly crap they are), and we spent four hours on Sunday putting all the guitars, keys and vocals down.

This is an initial bounce of the tracking we did in order to go away and make notes at home. In a week or so I'll mix it. The aim is to show the difference mixing (even done by amateurs like me) can make to a recording. So I'm hoping the mix comes out ok when I actually do it!

No real point to this, I don't have anything to teach anyone, just thought it might be nice to a) prove I do record music and b) show a work in progress to encourage starters.

Let me know what you think!!

Nik :)

EDIT - Changing link to LightningMP3 so I don't crash my own website!! :o

Sounds like a good start, Dude Of Noise....Can't wait to hear how the finished product turns out.

Double the vocal. The rest of the mix sound very dark and distant, it's not in the same space as the vocal. Low end is tubby.
