So I finished this song today and I feel like the mix is pretty solid but because I don't have a set of monitors I can't really judge. Anyone care to take a listen and let me know if there is anything I could do to improve?

p.s. First post, woo!

Pretty good, but I'm not well versed in this style of music so I can't offer any technical advice. That and I'm also listening on low volume so I can't hear all the nuances. The only thing I may bring up is there doesn't seem to be a melodic instrument in the lower registers. Maybe you don't want bass as far as the arrangement goes, but it does seem lacking down there.

Are you saying the bass guitar is so low you didn't even realize it was there?! Or that there should be more going on in that register?

Its hard as my volume knob is down (people in next room sleeping) but there just wasn't a whole lot of "bass" frequencies going on, but I'll need to turn it up to really hear them.

Was there a bass guitar though? I didn't really hear one.

Hmm, I don't really hear a bass either - well not a bass guitar anyway. The pitch doesn't sound close to low enough to be a bass guitar.

I think you're either a talented or fairly experienced mixer. The Notwist comes to mind. I have no suggestions, I like your mix of real sounds and thin pads, really good. You know your way around a synth. Which ones did you use? Care to sing on this one?

The nice words are much appreciated, I'm using the Waldorf Blofeld, Korg Kaossillator and some plug-in synths in that song.

I don't sing, believe me its for the best. If anybody else cares to take a stab at it they are welcome to.

BTW, there is a bass guitar throughout the whole song, but the lack of good speakers to mix on deceived me into mixing it way too low. I will try to upload a new mix soon to see if I can get the bass right.
