what's the catch? people come to me with beats they use on a CD. The bass in these things are insane (when i use a spectral analyzer, etc. etc...or like open it up with ozone running you know?). How is this accieved, really?

I'd like to make my beats that "bass crunkt". can i just compress the hell out of the low end, and then turn it up to -.1 dbFS? haha.

what problem are you having?

i mix with A LOT of SUB BASS so i may be able to help you

well... I guess just how do you get the bass to be so crisp and loud and in your face, without clipping? haha.
i dont know, just any tips, or howtos , or anything.

Waves Rcomp :)
most ppls find my tracks to hit to hard and go very low..(as low as 13HZ!!!!!)

sub bass, i use a little Eq and compression.. then i tern the control room up and just play the bass and kick.. or if its an 808 i play it by its self and get it as loud as i want it.. then mix everything else into the song..

For super deep sounds I use a harmonizer and set a double 1 and/or 2 octaves down. If it's an 808 or something 1 octave is plenty. If it's a sample I wil copy it stretch it 200% (1 octave down) and crop and fade it to match the kick or bass instrument attack and decay. Then I resample with both.

hmmm interesting. is that how - say - the Neptunes or eminem/dre would do their stuff? i mean, is that good enough to keep it crisp, and still sound heavy on the subs at the same time? haha.
