Don't stare at the eye.
I've posted preliminary mixes from this project before, but I think we're getting closer to done. This is the first time I've ever recorded and/or mixed someone other than myself (besides a single solo piece here & there) and I was surprised at a problem I ran into.

When I'm doing my own stuff, I never get beyond one song projects--so consistency's not a big issue. But these kids come into my basement and they're ready to rip with 5 songs. The tracking environment was very controlled--and I know I kept it all very consistent there. But once I got into mixing, I'd get lost in a song and make my decisions based on what's right for that song. As much as that seems like the right thing to do, when I finished them and came up for air, I found myself worried that they didn't sound cohesive enough. I don't need the songs to sound the same--but like they were done at the same time! You'll probably hear what I'm talking about most in the vox...

Anyway, have a listen. Your feedback is, as always, much appreciated:

(BTW--it's the second set, the 6/3 mixes)

On my way out the door, I'll listen later. Just didn't want this to drop too low without any reponses.

Song 1 - Mix is good, vocal parts at times tend to clash with each other a bit. The levels are okay but they're not in time with each other (not a mix thing). I'd like a bit more guitar (preference).
Song 2 - Mix is good, like the drums on this...You made the transition from arpeggios only to drums etc very smooth, no noticeable jump in volume...
I think I hear a slight difference in the vocals from 1 to 2 - sort of a phase-y almost thing on 2.
The singer sounds tired in 1...maybe taking on too much in one sitting. He has a great voice though for this genre. I think overall for these two that the mix is great....:D

Thanks for the listen and the input. If you get a chance to listen to any of the others (no pressure!) I think 3 & 4 are the best in some ways. Three is "simpler" and a nice mix and 4 was just more balanced--easier to place all the elements in the mix. So I'm curious about whether or not these feel consistent w/the ones you've already heard.

Thanks again.
