I was just wondering if anyone can explain to me what a "channel insert" is on a mixer and what it's used for. I also want to know what a "direct out" is and what it does as well.
Thanx.

Some of the good boards have a post/pre switch on the sends or a record out after the gain (and before the faders)DeadPoet said:Sorry to hijack this thread, but misterqcue, is the direct out always postEQ and post-fader or are there boards with a 'real' direct out: immediately after the pre?

If you use an insert as a direct out, it's right after the gain pot which is right out of the pre; no EQ or fader circuitry.DeadPoet said:Sorry to hijack this thread, but misterqcue, is the direct out always postEQ and post-fader or are there boards with a 'real' direct out: immediately after the pre?
