Hello friends, this may be impossible but here we go, I have two mixers, an Onyx 820i which is new and I want to use it because the pre amps are good and I don't need a separate sound card. I also have a Yamaha MG 82cx which has a good Echo in it's FX. I wonder if I can make the Yamaha's echo work with recordings on the Onyx?

Alternatively, does anyone know of an echo machine that does only echo and at a reasonable quality that I could use if the Yamaha can not be used with the Onyx?

Thanks, Frank

Even if it's possible to use the Yamaha for that it would be kind of silly to do so. An self respecting DAW will have plenty of decent effects, and echo is a really simple effect that's easy to do during mixdown.

Most of the cost of a hardware effects unit is in the materials and manufacturing. A hardware delay-only box would cost practically as much as one that did reverbs and all sort of other things, so people would just buy the one that did way more stuff for a couple dollars more. Nobody's going to bother making something that won't sell.

Thanks for that, I have a good DAW I think, Sonar Producer7 and Guitar tracks 4. I also have T-racks for mastering, I can get all kinds of things but not an echo for vocals. I guess I need to look at the DAW fx's a bit more.

It will probably be called "delay".

+1
Every DAW should have a good handful of delay effects too. and there's plenty of great free ones you could download, because as boulder said, it's a very simple effect.

Thank you both, I will now see what is to be found in the Daw and on line. I will post here if I am successful in case it might help somebody else, will probably take a few days.

OK guys, I found what I need in Guitar Tracks 4, Cakewalk Time/Delay. Works perfectly. It is not available in Sonar Producer 7 for some reason but that's OK. I am happy and I thank you for your help, case closed ha! Till I need something else. Frank
