I'm looking for a mixer case, but all I find are ones made out of plywood. Is that going to be strong enough? Do they make some out of aluminum? Wouldn't the plywood be really heavy?

An all aluminum case would be pretty expensive. What kind of mixer do you have? The plywood cases are heavy but they are a good cost/function trade off.

SKB is good for lightweight because they are plastic and alluminum but still pretty strong and ATA approved.

Anvil makes some serious road cases. They are heavy as hell but you can park a car on them.

I need a case for a Mackie 32.8. By itself, it weighs 75 pounds. I don't want a 100 pound case for it. I also want some strong, so it doesn't get hurt. I found a $30 case on eBay, but the guy is a real idiot. He won't tell me how much it weighs, how strong it is, or how much shipping will be because it's $30. I can't find any case for it made out of aluminum. Do any even exist?

Your best bet is SKB. Their mixer cases are usually under 50lbs and made out of tough plastic and alluminum. It will still be a two man job to set it up though.

Does SKB make a case for the 32.8? According to SKBCases.com, their 40 x 31 universal case is for the Mackie 24.8, and there is nothing bigger. Is plywood my only option? The case is $29, it will probably go higher (it's on eBay), but is it something I should be thinking about? Since it is plywood, I could probably screw wheels on it to make it easier.

Something like this, perhaps?

Rock Hard Cases

That case is pretty sweet! It's also plywood. I'm sure that's got to be several hundred dollars. How strong is plywood?

The plywood itself is not going to break but the quality of the joints and hinges will be the real question. Without seeing the case in person it's impossible to say.
