mixdown question

Hi guys,
I have an Alesis Multimix firewire 12, which I use for recording. I use Cubase, but I think the question is valid for any DAW. Generally, the recording is done at home, but sometimes I have time to start mixing/mastering on the road. When I’m on the road, I don’t bring the Alesis with me. I just have my vaio notebook.

Is there any difference, at least theoretically in terms of audio quality, if I export the audio mixdown (File-Export-Audio mixdown) with my Alesis set as the VST Audio System ASIO Driver, or if I do this using ASIO4ALL v2?

What I’m trying to figure out, is if I am going to spoil the “quality” of the mixdown if I export it with asio4all instead of waiting to be back home and doing it with the Alesis plugged in. I know I cannot expect miracles with the Alesis but if exporting the mixdown with asio4all will give me less quality it’s worth waiting to be back home.
Thanks for your advice.

Thank you, Jimmy.
So, if I'm understanding correctly, that means that the audio card is not involved in the mixdown process? I thought it was.
Thanks again.

Nope, the audio card only houses your physical i/o and your AD/DA converters. Unless you are stemming your mixes out to a summing box or mixer, the bounce down of the mix is done internally by your PC's CPU.

Cheers :)
