mix to burn

I've got a question about getting the mix ready to burn to CD.

First, my software records in 32-bit, but when I click on the 'mixdown' option, it automatically converts everything to 16-bit. I know it needs to be 16-bit for CD burning, but the software also has the option of mixing down in 32-bit. Can you think of any advantage of using this option, since I'd have to dither it all down to 16-bit eventually anyway to reach the CD stage.
 
The advantage would probably be if you going to send it out for mastering, or you wanted to use another program for some reason or another (that had a better dither maybe?).

Whatever you do, make it's dithering to 16-bits and not transcating.
 
Don't really remember. I'll have to check my books (they're at home). I'm sure someone else can tell by then though.
