Can I mix to more than 2 channels? I want to make a 5.1 mix and burn a DTS CD with the Minnetonka DTS CD encoder.

SONIC FOUNDRY HAS IT

You did not specify what kind of equipment you have to do your mixing and I am not familiar with the equipment you have, maybe because the prices of 5.1 encoders/writers/burners are still extremely steep. But, as long as you have at least an 6 bus mixing board or have enough outs, you could possible mix 5.1. The problem is to encoding them.

Sonic Foundry used to have a software encoder to mix Dobly Digital 5.1 that used to sell for one grand U.S. They have stopped marketing them, maybe because the market is not yet ready. But you could possibly call or email them. You may also post want ads it BBS's around the internet, and maybe, find one in eBay.

Good Luck.

I have an 8 channel output bus on my MOTU 2408.

I found a DTS CD encoder from Minnetonka that takes a mixdown from 6 WAV files and encodes a DTS WAV file that when burned to a CD makes it a DTS CD which can be played through any DTS decoder.

DTS CD ENCODER INPUTS

One last thing, how many inputs does your DTS CD encoder has? To be a real MULTI-CHANNEL encoder, you need all the inputs to output real discreet channels. I am not familiar with the DTS output as of yet, but friends tell me one gets a better channel separation with DOLBY 5.1. But since DTS is what you have, then we would have to work with it. I am sure you know what sound to put to what channel and how loud.

I do not have a speaker setup that allows me to pump the data in directly yet. I need to upgrade to one that not only has the decoder built in, but also discreet inputs from an external decoder. I figure I can connect 6 of the outputs of the MOTU to that, mix, and then output the mix to 6 files for processing in the DTS encoder.
