Oh man... don't tell me that!!! I'm going to try to hang some 2ft x 12ft pieces of 5/8 inch drywall tonight :)

I can cut the 4x12 down to 2x12 on the floor... but then I have to try to put the rest up myself....

hmmm.... should be comical :)

Make a "dead man", or even two. Its essentially its a large capital "I" made out of 2x4's, and you make it so that its close to your ceiling, maybe two inches off. Then staple on the top of the "I" a small strip of rubber, so it grabs the sheet rock.

Then you sit on the ladder, sheet rock above your head, and kick the dead man into position and allow the sheetrock to land on it.

I've actually gotten pretty good at this, believe it or not. With a structure like yours, you can rent a sheet rock lift as others suggested to me, as you don't have an entry door thats a mere 18" wide :)

I rented one, dismantled it, and STILL couldn't get it into the room. At least the rental place took it back without charging me, that was kinda cool.

Where is your webcam? I'm about to get Wendy's, but I'd enjoy some during-dinner entertainment :D

No web cam yet... I've got a reputation to protect ;P

You're no fun... some of you guys should join the "construction monkeys from hell" club, and I don't mean the fan club you are in right now :D

Hey frederic, I DON"T GET IT. How do I monitor your cam?

lower case on both.

Then when the page comes up, on the left side, click "ActiveX", then enjoy the show. Not that I'm doing much more tonight, I'm rather burnt. Just finished estimating sheet rock panels.

If its not working, you need to enable "activeX" in your browser options.

Seems, I'm one short :)

Hmmmmm, how come your not moving. You MUST be tired.

Oh, I had to hit HOME, cause I couldn't find any ActiveX on Netscape. But the pic came up. Its just not movin!

Aaaaah, netscape. When you see the three buttons on the left, "ActiveX", "Java" and "Admin", select "java"

That usually works better with Netscape.

Hey frederic, THAT is VERY cool. You sheetrock job looks GREAT! Have a good evening. You are very brave too. I'd feel wierd haveing a camera on all the time. I mean, I cuss a lot!:D

Glad oyu liked the cam... at first I thought it was a little weird, but then I thought it was fun. As long as I don't trip in front of it, all is well :)

I might be putting another one in the vocal booth, for internal use, once everything is finished, painted, and mudded. I didn't put on a wallplate for the cat 5, but the wire's dangling in the wall somewhere close to the ceiling. I did plan ahead :D

Though, like an idiot, I forgot to run electrical to the inside of the booth. Its easy enough to put in, just bore a 1" hole, force plastic conduit through, and feed it off the producer's desk since it will be on the same circuit anyway... just annoyed that *I* forgot *electrical*.

Oh well, win some lose some.

Planning frederic, planning:D Hahahaha! Just teasin ya. Hey, what is your HVAC up there? And your lighting when done? Oh, and sorry I haven't got the pics up of my console assembly, but HONEY DO's hit me all weekend:( Ebay projects for my wife.
Shabby chic chandaliers, tables, racks, ......lord.....fix; fix; fix!!#$^%^*&(^$$%#$

I have two hot-water radiators in the room, which were originally in series with the rest of the radiators in the house, but a few weeks ago I lopped the pipes apart in the basement and put them in parallel wiht the rest of the house. Its still one zone mind you, but at least they get warm now. In the past, by the time the hot water got to my room, it was barely warm. Now, its nice and hot.

In the spring, I'll be making a cement pad outside for the condensor/blower of a mini-split system I'll be picking up post-winter. This way I have heat AND cooling, and no fan noise.

I intend to put two interior units actually, on inside the vocal booth above the window, and one in the console room, on the other side of the booth wall, also above the window. The plumbing for both units are already there, and extend out to the soffit, and I have a greased rubber stopper in all the openings, and already ran the multi-pair control cable, which is also slopped in the wall and terminated in a waterproof junction block in the soffit, to be drawn down to the outside unit when I eventually install it.

This way I can install the units on the inside, by making small holes, rather than tearing the booth wall apart.

I just didn't have the $1200 for the unit at the time. Plus its cold, I don't need it just yet :)

I was originally running galvanized ductwork through the crawl space behind the short wall, and intended to cross it over through the top of the stairwell from the first floor to the second floor into the main attic of the house, and put a large A/C unit up there, but I ran into a snag as my house not only is constructed with 2x12's and 2x16's, but also steel I-Beams. At the side of the stairwell, there is an I-Beam in the way, so ducting this way was out. Because the ceiling is slanted in my studio, and the bathroom next to me, and on the other side of the bathroom is my wife's office, there wasn't anywhere to run the duct other than through the I-Beam. Which is a shame because I have on two pallets the commericial HVAC unit from the commercial building I temporarily owned for a pro studio... so it was disappointing that highly oversized unit can't be used in the house. Oh well.

So, minisplit to the rescue. Its noiseless, fanless, reasonably efficient, and one of the side benefits is also that it would be a seperate zone from the rest of the house. As it is now, when my wife cooks or bakes, the heat from the stove warms the thermostat and the heat goes off for hours on end - which results in ice forming in my studio, specifically on my nose.

*sigh*

There, a long winded answer for a simple question.

It was necessary... I have to move all the junk in the sofa cove to under the slanted ceiling, and walking on the floor as it was kicked up so much dust it was like I was sanding the mud still.

Dlink, all the way :)

I've been working from home for a month... taking full advantage of this hiatus between old organization and new organization, and no one's notice. Some days are hit and miss, I can be on calls all day long or get sucked into a client visit, no big deal, other days, like today, are going to be quiet and I can get a lot done. Hopefully.

We will see if I'm being over amibitious :)

Remember, whatever time and money you planned for your construction, just triple it and get the pain over with up front :)

I'm not too worried about the loft being hard to drywall...

I measured it out and as it stands it is EXACTLY 32 feet long...

so I can use FULL 4x12 - 4x12 - 4x8 sheets to cover the whole wall :)

Plus the ceiling is exactly 2 feet wide across the peak... so I can cut the drywall down the middle and use full sheets.

The only trick will be the areas around the windows (they are arch top windows) and the staircase.

I'm actually looking forward to it.

The room is right around 400 sqft but because of a snafu with the installation of the staircase (top and bottom landings are too short) we can't consider it "living space."

so basically we will have a 400 sqft finished "attic" complete with in ceiling lighting and speakers, 4 seperate cat5 runs, 2 seperate quad shield catv runs, central audio controls installed in the wall, solid cherry cabinetry on one end with a counter top installed (desk area) and built in book shelves and a futon on the other end for the kids play area.

Not tooooo shabby of an attic :)

Thank you frederic. Long winds are good for ya though.:D Seriously, HVAC is something that is spoke of infrequently here. Thats why I asked. Any links to the units your going to use. Very seldom see those either. Anyway, off for a job interview. Talk to you later. Oh, don't do anything in the dark you don't want anyone to see, thinking the camera can't see ya. I could. Hehehehe!
