midi

just got my midi keyboard to work with my comp... right now i work with VST instruments... but now i have found another problem... i dont have any midi sounds... any other instruments than the VST... when i chose instrument ,in the gray area to the left in cubase, then i dont have any patches.

why is that and how do i fix it?
