Midi Sync

it seems like every istrument i load into the MP is being read and played by it. I only want the MP to trigger the ASR.
 
Are you setting each instrument up on differant midi channels?
 
Let's see...this is what I find on the ASR

Midi Base Channel 1
Transmit on Instrument Chan
Base Channel Pressue-Key
Midi In Mode - Omni
Midi controllers OffMisi Sys-Ex - On
Midi Program Change -On
Midi Song Select- OnMidi xCtrl # -50
Multi Controllers Off
Enter Plays -Key b3

What's wrong?

What other options do you have for Midi In Mode?
 
a little better. I unhooked the Midi out of the ASR, it was causing the unit to bug out. I still have a cymbal crash that I loaded into the ASR that is playing randomly. I deleted the entire sequence in the asr also, so i'm looking fo just a pure drum track from the MP. Almost there.
 
So you are using the sequencer for both the MPC and ASR at the same time? I would pick one or the other

If you want to have an old-school ASR + MPC setup, then cut the computer completly out of the chain and just set the MPC as the master, the ASR as the slave and go from there. It's important that you get the midi 'in' mode on the ASR right - if you want to play more than one instrument sound at a time it should be set to 'multi'.

If you want to control them both from the computer then disable both the internal sequencers by leaving them in internal sync so that they don't respond to the midi clock commands from the computer. Then if your version of Cakewalk allows you to pick the master for that track you can decide between feeding the computer sequencer midi information from the MPC or the ASR.

Thanks to all by the way. I did get the sampler/sequencer thing worked out. Now I need to figure out how to do individual passes to drop the individual sounds to PC, but that's another lesson.

Sounds like you're giving us the okey-doke because you've been in class long enough today and you're tired of wrestling with it. ;)

And I have no idea what you mean by 'drop individual sounds to PC'. :confused:
 
I think he means record the sounds individually into his cpu...
 
exactly. send sounds individually so that I can mix them in my softwear.
