System:
Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop
-2.1 GHz
-1 GB Ram
-Integrated Firewire Port
Interface - Yamaha i88x
DAW - Cubase SX3
Problem:
I have been trying to record a midi drum track with EZ drummer and a keyboard as the midi input. Everything sounds perfect when I am recording using the metronome. However, on playback the ticks on the midi track are slightly off the bar and beats markers and don't match the metronome exactly. I thought if the autosnap feature was enabled blue that the notes would automatically align to the grid - they end up in weird positions slightly off track. I have read the midi fix on www.jay.fm/miditime/ and ran the midi test loop program. I enabled the "Use system timestamp" on the DirectMusic and Windows Midi device panel per it's suggestion but have the same issue. The DirectMusic page on the device menu is the only one with my mLan IO's.
Questions:
Should i88x be using Windows Midi or Direct Music for the midi? Can I change which one it uses? Do I need to delete one of them?
I have tried setting Windows and i88x as the wordclock master. Which one should I use generally?
What else could be causing this?
Would updating cubase help? I was considering dishing out $150 for version 4 essentials if it would be worth it.
