I have Cubase and a Firepod, when I try to record MIDI through the Firepod all the notes are cluttered at the beginning of the track. When I use my MIDIsport they are recorded in sequence but with some minor timing problems. whats wrong?

Mac or PC?

ASIO driver or WDM or some other?

Is the problem with the midisport solved by applying quantization to the notes?

Can I think of any more questions?

No?

Can I wait for your anwers?

Yes.

:D

You left out an answer --- and it may be the key to your problem.

Are the "minor timing issues" solved when you quantize the notes in Cubase?

I have heard about problems running a midisport alongside other software, and that may be what is clustering the notes when you record midi thru the Firepod.

Auto Quantize seems to work okay.

But there's still a problem with the Firepod MIDI. It will work right 1 or 2 times and then goes back to messing up.

If your midisport is working well now we really don't need to diagnose the Firepod problem.

It could be as simple as a conflict with the midisport or as complicated as a defective unit.

Stick to the midisport for your midi recording needs.

I'm still getting some bad timing problems with the MIDIsport and the Quantize function doesnt solve it. I'd really like to get the Firepod MIDI connection working properly

I infer that you're trying to run both the Firepod and the Midisport at the same time on the same computer and since the Firepod has midi capabilities you don't really need the Midisport, notwithstanding my last stab at a BBS solution to a hands-on problem.

Try uninstalling both the Firepod and the Midisport, then reinstalling the Firepod. This will probably unknot one from the other and will (probably) solve your midi problem.

I had the same problem with cubase 4. I solved it by checking the either one of the boxes Windows MIDI timestamp in the device manager - midi. Look at the bottom of the window.

Everything works perfect now except now I can hear that my second Alesis Controlpad also skips every other drum stroke when hitting two drums at once.

The solution to that is to alter the the midi length. I've tried changing legato to 15 ticks in the Cubase 4 - file - preferences - midi and it got a little better, but not perfect.

The solution is to use some kind of midi converter, maybe a sysex editor and change the length of every midi note. The notes it sends is unstable and unevenly strong. By lengthening the notes maybe my BFD 2.0 will hear it better. I have tried several other programs with similar results.

In short: Cubase 4 - Device Manager - Midi - Check Yes! for Timestamp! Either one is great.

1x1 Midi Adn 2 Devices

Hey folks! I've got a question about using 2 midi devices with an audio card that only has one set of MIDI I/O inputs. I have the Lexicon Omega, a Yamaha S90 keyboard and I want to buy the Akai MPD24 Midi Pad Controller all going into Acid Pro 6.0. The Omega only has a single set of Midi I/O. I want to use my keyboard for triggering samples from SampleTank loaded as a VSTi into Acid and then use the Akai pad to trigger drums using EZDrummer loaded as a VSTi into Acid. Let me say that I know how to use VSTi(s) in Acid etc...I know how to use SampleTank and EZDrummer with a single midi instrument (my keyboard). I'm wondering how do I use both midi devices independently when I only have a single set of Midi I/O on my audio card (the Lexicon)? In other words I ONLY want the Akai pad controller to trigger drums and I ONLY want my keyboard to do all other instruments. I was reading about the master--> slave config using the MidiThru port on my keyboard, but I don't really get it 'cause it seems the two devices are then not independent of each other. Any help is appreciated.
