I just bought an Alesis SR-16. The thing sounds great so far. My question: Is there a way to write up a Midi file on my PC to tell the SR-16 what to do? I'd much rather cut/paste and edit a text file than do the button-button thing.
That push-a-button, push-a-button, push-a-button thing gets old fast and there doesn't seem to be a way to go back and edit my steps. They do have a deal that you can "perform" and "record" the song. But a lot of times I"m composing on the fly and I'd like to be able to add a fill or change a pattern on my original drum "song" without reprogramming the entire thing.
We'll make the assumption that I have all the stuff I need for the PC and SR-16 to talk to each other (I might need to get a sound card with the midi ports though).
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Fusion
