hi! I just got Reason 3.0
But i have a problem with my midi keyboard keystation49.
I use to work with this midi keyboard in reason 2.5 and i know how to connect it. It's really simple.

So with reason 3 i have 2 problems.
1- It cant record when i'm playing on the keyboard.
2- And every time i want to play on an another device, i have to select it by the channel 1 of the hardware interface.

Does someone know why its doing that?

There are two things that need to be considered (I'm using Reason 2.5 as a reference and am assuming the belowmentioned instructions also apply to Reason 3):

1. The midi channel on which your controller keyboard is transmitting, &
2. the midi channel on which Reason is receiving.

Also, in order to be able to record midi events from your controller keyboard into Reason, you need to make sure that the sequencer track corresponding to the device you want to play is receiving midi. To do this, check that the track's MIDI IN icon (a DIN-socket symbol) is present at the far left end of the device-name box in the track list at the left of the sequencer section.

If the sequencer section is not visible, hover your mouse cursor over the thin strip immediately above the transport so that your mouse cursor switches to the "Move Pane-Divider" cursor (or whatever it's called [two horizontal lines crossed by a vertical, double-headed arrow {ref. Windows}]). Then click & drag upwards to reveal the sequencer section.

Given that only channel one of your Reason hardware interface passes midi to the devices, your controller keyboard is presumably transmitting on midi channel one, and Reason must be receiving on channel one. You can check/change Reason's midi receive channel by going Edit>Preferences and selecting the "MIDI" page of the dialogue box.

Also, it sounds as though you have an external control bus active. This is not required for your setup; to switch it off, go Edit>Preferences, selct the "Advanced MIDI" page of the dialogue and make sure all the Bus menus show ""No MIDI Input".

Now, whenever you want to play/record into a certain device, just make sure the corresponding track's MIDI receive ("DIN-socket") icon is on, and away you go.

Please direct these questions to the proper part of these forums, like computer recording or keyboards..................
