I am trying to figure out why anyone would record a synth (Nord Lead 2) using midi interface instead of one of the analog interfaces? To me the analog sounds much better and captures the actual sound of the synth. MIDI just sounds cheap.

Thanks,
Kit

There is no way MIDI can "sound cheap"... it's can't sound like anything at all.... MIDI is simple an event-driven command protocol to control MIDI-enabled devices. One of its uses is to store what note(s) are played when, and for how long, and also which sound or patch is being used to play those notes.

If it sounds "cheap" it is sounds on the synth or device that sounds bad, and has nothing to do with MIDI!
