Hello,
I would like to audibly be able to monitor my midi and my audio at the same time. Is there a way to do this with hardware (I currently have an m-audio 2496 and I would like to be able to monitor my midi and my audio via headphones and speakers)

MIDI what? Soft synths or hardware synths?

Assign an audio output to soft synths through the 2496. For hardware synths it's easier to monitor them through a mixer, in fact it's easier to monitor the 2496 through a mixer too IMHO.

Sorry. It's been a while and I was never too good with that anyway. I almost forgot about the synths. Some of the synth software is called a midi "monitor" in linux or so I've been told. I was just wondering if there was hardware that may have had built in synths that you could plug the midi out (from m-audio 2496) into that also supported audio. If not that is ok because I can do it the way you suggested
