Not getting the sound from my tascam to the computer when playing keyboards yet. the keyboard is a yamaha xg with midi in and out. I have the lines in to out and out to in on the interface and getting signal lights showing it's getting there but not getting the meter signals yet on the console with home studio. overlooking something here so need help. thanks :D

MIDI is not audio. What MIDI does is send event messages from one device to another. Events include playing keys and how hard and for what duration but the actual sounds are not sent through MIDI.

You need to send the audio out from your keyboard into the audio in on your recording device.

Well I may not have worded what I was asking very well. I have sound now with midi keyboard. I found that midi has its own thing on home studio. You can record keyboard input to tascam to computer and out to stereo by starting a new record, click midi only selection then assigning your channels the same. You won't hear what you did until you playback. When you are recording the click is there/metronome to keep time while playing. pretty cool. now just need to figure out how to incorperate midi recording with the audio tracks I have already recorded. any help here will be great. :D

Make sure the Yamaha is recieving MIDI back. Slap on a set off headphones attached to it to verify. You might need to set-up the MIDI out port in Home Studio and be certain that it is transmitting on the same channel as the Yamaha is set to recieve (usually channel 1 by default). Also be sure that Home Studio is not disabling the Yamaha when Home Studio launches (Some programs will transmit for whatever reason, a command that disasbles the sound module of any keyboards attached to the computer. This is usually refered to as the "Local" setting on most synths). Be sure "Local" is set to "On", on the Yamaha. After that you should be able to "Record Enable" the track you want to record on (In order to monitor the input during recording, you'll have to enable the meters for live input monitoring).
