Midi issues please help

This is my First time ever Posting on here. But Ive always used this site to answer a lot of my own ?. So this is my issue. I have been using my M-audio oxygen25 and my apc20 for months with no prob.. I use it in ableton live . i was using it in any program that Midi was avail. So recently I Turn on my computer. and I open ableton. And none of the mid devices work. THey show up . but dont send out signal. No ONly thing I can think of that I did . was one of 3 things. first. I tried to sync ableton and Traktor P 2 together.. and I didnt get it to work. I also Installed FL10 and Was messing around with trying to get the keyboard to work. I also Went in Renoise. PLease someone tell me that I must have the midi signal as a slave or some option I need to deactivate. Ive done everything from reinstall drivers. Update. ANd so on. I even got both devices to work on another computer so I know Its not broken.. someone please tell me if they ever came across this issue. thank you

I assume you know enough about your computer to make sure things are set up properly, right? Are you using a PC? If so, double check in the Control Panel, Music/Audio devices, and see if the configuration is as you think it to be.

I've had programs arbitrarily change my sound card settings (because there are 3 devices in my PC to choose from) and have scrtached my head as to why things were working a few hours ago, and not anymore. My fix has always been where I just described.

I never have figured out how or why a program will do what I just described, but it happens.

one thing you can try if you've exhausted all other possibilities is to do a system restore to a date before everything went haywire.
