Recently this problem started cropping up. I am using SONAR 1.3.1. I only use MIDI and don't have any Audio interface except for SBLIVE which I don't use.
After opening SONAR and running it for about an hour- I get the blue screen (Machine exception error).

Can anyone prescribe any remedies for this? I am running WIN2000.

Thanks.

If your not inputting any audio, lets look at what your doing for that hour while Sonar is running. Are you using softsynths? and what is going on, how much, and where is it going on when the blue screen occurs?

OK-
I have SONAR connected to a MOTIF-8 Synth and Yamaha AW4416 recorder via MIDI cables.

I am controlling the SONAR from the AW4416 recorder. When I press PLAY it automatically starts SONAR MIDI. SONAR in turn controls the synth to output the sounds. The synth sounds are routed through the AW4416 mixer. After playing for about 5 to 10 times (pressing play from AW4416), the PC crashes. Until then it works fine.

I am not using any softsynths and no audio whatsover.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled SONAR and it still crashes. NExt I am going to see if unistalling the Printer driver will help- because that is using the second USBP port on my PC.

Thanks.

I used 2000 with Sonar 2.0 xl and had one blue screen. I repaired the 2000 installation(which equates to about an install) and I had no problem afterward. I had corrupted files in the 2000 installation. After I went to XP I had no problems at all with Sonar or the OS.

Question for anyone using MIDISPORT with SONAR-
I am trying to update my MIDISPORT2x2 drivers. I have the old MIDIMAN folder which has the drivers in it. I uninstalled the drivers using the 'uninstall' in this old folder. I checked WIN device manager and they were gone! Good!

I downloaded the latest MIDISPORT executable file "MS2x2_1010_web". I ran this and everything seemed OK. Next I plugged in my MIDISPORT into the USB and the PC automatically detected it and proceeded to upload the drivers. Next it asks me to point to the driver- but I don't have the new drivers location. So I am having to use the old driver.

When I finish- I don't see the MIDISPORT in SONAR, neither do I see it in the WIN device manager's "audio/video" controller icon. But it is there under the USB icon.

So the question is: when I run MS2x2_1010_web, is it supposed to dump the new drivers someplace for me to locate it later? I don't have this.

Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks.
