Dear all, I started my hard disk rec programme.
I bought a decent audio cart, a big HD (40 GB) and plugged in my hardware synthetizer.
Now, I record myself alone and curios to know your experience how do you take the decision audio or midi tracks recording.
I have a 16 voices synth,. this shoudl mean that polyphony will be over after about an average of 4 tracks, correct??

My average song is made out of 6-8max stereo recorde tracks.
How will you advise me to proceed ??

MIDI for software drum (waldorf Attack) and rythm and all the rest directly as audio tracks ??
Or do you have different suggestions/guidelines ??
Tks a lot

I use MIDI until I'm ready to mix down.

This way I have complete creative control over the track until I'm ready to finalize my recording.

Then I'll dump the MIDI device's audio output to a free track (or tracks) to complete the project.

You can get more out of your limited Polyphony by recording the synth parts as individual audio tracks. Then you are only limited by your number of audio tracks.

Yeah I basically do what these dudes do: get all my tracks sequenced (via MIDI or whatever) and sounding the way I want them to and then record each one from my synth(s) onto Cubase, each one it's own seperate audio track, stereo if it's an integral/lead track or there are channells available for use.
