Cool tune man.Cool concept and feel to the song.I like the guitars and the drums are recorded great(at least on my speakers they sound killer).Sounds like something the Allman brothers might do if they got stranded in Saudi Arabia.:D
 
9/11 has nothing to do with cool Arabic grooves and influences! Maybe actually it will make people more aware of these great musical idioms (although probably most people are too closed minded).

I like the song, it reminds me of old Camper Van Beethovan

Hey, how does the Nowhere radio work out for you, the signal sounds good, I've been looking at many posting sites, what are your thoughts on that one?
 
I think nowhereradio is pretty cool! It's super easy to use and they give you some free space to put up some songs right off the bat. I bought the "infinite" space so I can put a bunch of songs on there, which is great if I want to give a sample for prospective clients or if I want to jam with a band and they want to hear my playing. I haven't done any of the other things yet....like CD sales and any kind of promotional stunts. What I really like is the fact that it has a listening statistic which shows how many times a song was downloaded as well as show you who downloaded it.

If you're not a member you should at least check it out.....

Your drums sound awesome. Can you please give us details on how they were recorded?
I wasn't totally sold on the way the guitars sound, but I think it is more the tones you chose than the recording style. They just sound a little cheap, if that makes any sense... might help if you gave details of the guitar rig too.

A set of shitty Teac PowerMax 160/2's.Beats the heck out of headphones though.;)

Hmmmm....the drums....

From I recall, I used 421's on the toms(close miced), c3000b's for the overheads(spread far apart), a Beta 52 in the bass drum right up to the beater and a 57 on the snare. I think I used a BG4.1 on the hats, which I regret to admit!
I don't know why I chose to do this at the time but I turned off my snares and just started fuckin around. Next thing I know we're playing this rythym that lead to this creation. It's kind of weird to think that the song was inspired by the snare just being turned off!

The guitar was actually done direct through a Digitech 2112 ( I love that effect:D, can you guess why?). We didn't spend too much time on the whole thing as we just had a couple of hours. It was one of those record it then mix right afterwards deals.
I just played the bass direct with no preamp or compression. It went right into the frickin' board. I'd only been playing bass for a few months and I was pretty new to recording so I really didn't know any better.

If you get a chance you should check out Eyes on Me at the same page.... it to is kinda "out there".

I too have a Digitech 2112.. I never use it as my main sound, but it doesn't sound bad here.. I usually use it for crazy effecty stuff and some clean sounds..


This is a very cool tune and the drums sound good.. Maybe a bit more reverb on the vocal parts.. I like the snare off thing too.. Damn.. this is a cool song.. The leads got a little low at times... Nice playing though.. Not too much wrong with this one. Maybe because I can't help but concentrate on the song and not the mix for this one..

the song is too cool.. The Digitech sounds good, but I imagine a Pod or something would have made the guitar sound better...

You're probably right about the pod but it wasn't even a thought yet when we recorded it. this was back when the 2112 was the newest and coolest thing.
