what mic does everyone use to record their vocals?
what preamp if any, do you use?
any combination of mic and pre you found to work particularly well?

im planning on upgrading my mic soon. possibly buy a preamp too.

im currently using an AKG c200b.

are you using a condenser mic right now? i'm using an AT3035 good mic fairly cheap, before that i had the AT4045 better mic at the time wasn't cheap. i want to try out the Rodes NTK.

i use the MXL 2001. i know its not the best mic in the world but it gets the job done for me.

i recently copped an AT3035 as well for $100 used.

ive been doing my recent joints with that...

before that i was using a MXLv93m

i like both of the mics....

95% of the time, i just use my audiobuddy preamp...but i also have a omnistudio usb..

Mostly I use an MXL V63m as it has a really great response to my vocals.

I like the AT 4050 but, the quality difference between that and the MXL isn't enough to justify the price.

I use phantom power from my mixer instead of a pre-amp.

Another user of the 3035...

I too want to try out the NT1a...

I use a roland pre. MMP-2

is there enough difference between phantom power and a preamp to care?
im using the phantom power on my Korg D1600 now.

AT3035(awesome mic for $200)..... ARTcessories Phantom III powered......No mic pre....tascam us-224 has built in mic pre.
