Hey everyone. I would like to see a list of mics that sound good and don't have sibilance issues. I like my C1 but sometimes the sibilance kills me.

Within the Studio Projects line, the T3 and B1 worked the best on me.

Add the Electro-Voice RE15 and RE20 to your short list also.

With proper placement, the 'ol SM57 can give good results too when combined with a nice pre like a Joe Meek 3Q, Studio Projects VTB-1, or M-Audio DMP3 IMHO.

singer A + mic B = sibilance
Singer B + mic B = no sibilance
Singer A + mic A = no sibilance
Singer B + mic A = sibilance

however, it is possible that
Singer A + mic C = mic B>sibilance>mic A

but at the same time, possibly
Singer B + mic C = mic B>sibilance>mic A

or not.

my point is its more about matching a mic with a singer rather than some mics having sibilance and others not. each singers sibilance is at a different frequency. some mics might have a boost at that frequency making it worse and some might not. but its specific to that singer. I guess in any situation, the flatter the response the better.

That might be because the C1 is harsher than using sandpaper to wipe your bung-hole.

I would say that, consistantly, the one condenser mic that has given me the least amount of sibilance issues is the Audio Technica 4050. Shure KSM-32 is another.

As others have already pointed out, sibilance isn't usually a problem with dynamic and/or ribbon mics.
