Mics, Monitors 2 for fishmed or anyone

I would like to spend about $300-$400 on the monitors and about $600-800 on a good quality new or used mic.

Monitors - Yamaha NS10's are a studio standard. You'll find them most every studio you walk into. I don't have a pair but a lot of people recommend them saying "if you can make it sound good through an NS10, it'll sound good on anything". You can get a pair new for around $350.
