what is a harmful temperature for microphones to be stored at?

I am concerend becuase the room mine have been in for the past couple of months has been an average of probably...60 degrees, 50% humidity. that isn't ALL that cold, but, cold for here..i guess.

i think they are fine - i'm going to move them upstairs where it is warmer, but...could they have been damaged? stuff like, c1, ntk, re20, nt3s, shure dynamics...etc.

Also, I've had a strat down there...need to set it up again and keep it in a warmer temp as well I think.

thoughts?

I wouldn't put one in the freezer, or leave it on the dash board of your car on a hot summer day, while parked in the sun at noon.

Seriously, I think storage at 40 degrees F to 120 degrees F wouldn't do any damage.
I try to use them as close to "room temperature (68-72degrees)" as you could though.

as for guitars they should be held at room temperature i believe, and not situated next to a element (radiator). This is most important for acoustic guitars, but i guess it applies to electric aswell (although not at the same degree).

I don't believe that 60 degrees will hurt anything in a microphone. Constant changes in temperature do the most harm due to condensation build up inside the mic. If you are constantly taking the mic from a cool storage to a warm studio and then back to cool storage again you will want to make sure that you use those crystals or something to keep the condensation down.

Blessings, Terry

yeah...well actually they are all in cases with the crystals and such anyways...

not just sitting out in the room.

Wes, C'mon.. I'm sure they're fine.. it's just the temp shock that's hard on the delicate stuff... hehe (Taylor)

Peace
