hello all
i have never ever ever used midi, but i need to start. and fast. money is on this, as im producing some sound tracks and i need some wind instrument sounds and all that.

so i thought midi might be the way.
though i've no idea on how to start.
even after having read manuals and forums and etc.

so i have a microkorg, an m-audio firewire 1814 and use adobe audition 2.0.
i have figured out audition does not record midi.
so now i am trying to use Reaper for that.

but i havent figured it out!
where are all my sounds? i need a flute. where is my flute sound?

how do i start??
i have connected my two midi cables, in-out to my 1814, all is good.
but im just loft after that. i have tried setting up the audio hardware prefs in reaper, and have gotten to the point where all is good... but where do i choose my sounds??

thanks everyone for helping, ahead of time. if someone can relay a quick step by step thing for me, would be amazing

thanks

I have a Microkorg and I love it. However, there are no traditional sounds on it. It's all crazy synth stuff. If you are going to use it as a controller then you'll need some virtual instruments. If you don't have any then you need to get some. Try the demo version of SAMPLE TANK.

You could also ditch the MIDI and just record the audio the Microkorg makes direct into audition.

are there any freeware vst-i's that have flute he could play from his kb?

doesnt a sequencer like reaper already have virtual instruments as plugins ?

Though it sequences, its more of an audio oriented Recorder/Editor/Mixer/Effector

That said, yeah it has some VST-i's included, but there are many killer free ones out there, however, Im trying to find some good, free flute samples for you as we speak
