Micing an Accordion

Okay, I'm away from my studio at the moment.(I work away from home)

In 2 weeks I'm going home for a few days, and a friend of the family has asked to record her Accordion. I agreed, but I really would like to do it as fast as possible.

My Mic Collection included:

Rode NT2
2 x C1000s
1 x D112
4 x C418 clip ons

and a few crappy peavey dynamics.

If any of you have suggestions on which mic to use, and it's position, i'd be gratefull.

Your lucky....you can't really go wrong with micking an accordeon. Almost any conensator will do the job. You won't believe the volumelevel these babies produce when played well.

micking is best done at a slight distance (couple of feet to give the player some movement room) aimed at the 'speaker' section above the keys.
use the NT2 for this.

You could make good use of the couple C1000 by using them as a stereo pair right in front of the accordeon.

It's one of those instruments that has a very penetrant sound. it will cut through anything...
