another song off the upcoming release of 'The Wild Animals',
this song is a true story, a requiem of sorts for a good friend that is gone.

i'm doing final mixes now, would like some mix feedback if you hear anything out of place.

i already know i have a peak at 200hz i've got to deal with.
i'm also going to tame a few passes of the drum track, so little things i still have to do.
looking for big picture stuff mostly..
thanks in advance.

Love your stuff, always top notch musicianship.

I'm struggling with the clarity of the vocal on this one.

Your stuff is always good, and you’re quite prolific with your output. That takes a good work ethic. (y)

But yeah, this one could use a little work on the vocals.

I think it sounds great. I always enjoy your guitar playing.

All the levels sound balanced to me. Maybe the part where you play a bit of 3rd stone from the sun, the delay could be tweaked - sounds too fast. Very minor nit pick, it's fine as is even.

The vocals sound fine to me. In a full out rock context like this song is, it's difficult to get vocals to stand out. Just the way it is, too many competing frequencies in full out rock - always compromises. I think the vocals are audible, and intelligible enough. Timing and musicianship is impeccable on this.

Great work.

Thanks human!
Clarity. Meaning level, or eq and leveling?

I would try just turning the vocal up a bit to start, it's not far away. I just find I'm having to listen harder than I'd want to to make it all out but I don't think it needs anything drastic.

hey rfr, thanks for commenting!
i'll focus a bit on the vox, see if maybe a bit of SSL compression might just bring it a bit forward, i like the eq and leveling as it is now, but don't want to just add level or treble to get them to stick out.

i'm really trying to draw the listener in further, by making the vocal not sit on top like current pop trends do it,
and sometimes i like a buried vocal (thank ghod some of jaggers best vocals, are a bit buried! LOL)

hi El, thanks for listening, glad you dig the stuff i'm doing.
delay on the 3rd stone part, check... i'm using a send for other channels for that part, but it'd be easy to just add one just for that section, and dial it in more. i think i used the vocal delay, which is set up different than anything else.

and yes, part of the reason the vox is tucked back a bit, is to not fight the guitars, which are driving the song, but i dont' want the vox buried, just tucked in.

ok, cool, i get that.
i think i have a plan, will remix tonight.

Just a teeny bit more forward on the vocal in my opinion. Otherwise great ??
